The thing that gnomes are most afraid of is humans. This is because they are much bigger than them and so the sight of one is enough to make a gnome shiver in fear.

Loud noises: gnomes can be quite nervous creatures at times and loud noises, especially the type made by humans, can easily startle them. This is because what would be a normal sounding noise to a human would be much louder to a gnome and so most noises that humans make will startle them.

They have fantastic hearing and so can hear humans almost as soon as they start walking. Their footsteps will not only make noise but also vibrations that they feel. This is one of the reasons that humans do not see gnomes walking around their garden and in nature and their have only been “sightings” of them walking around in videos posted on places such as YouTube but no concrete evidence.

Not being with loved ones: they, like humans, are community focused and one of their favorite things to do is to be around their friends and family. Not being able to do so is one of the most scariest thoughts that they have. This is one of the main reasons that they are so careful creatures and will make sure that they are out of sight whenever any kind of danger is near them or their community.

Losing their fishing rod: They are big fans of fishing as it allows them to do two of their favorite things which are eating food and socializing with their friends! Losing their fishing rod means that they will not be able to partake in their favorite hobby and so the fear of losing this is one of their biggest.

Gnomes natural behaviour is to be peaceful and they do not enjoy being in scary situations which is why you do not see them very often.

In contrast, there is a fear of gnomes by people which is called gnomophobia. I’m not sure why people would be scared of gnomes but some people may have had bad experiences with them in the past which could be the root cause of this fear.
