The language of the gnomish people is called “Gnomish” in World of Warcraft (WoW). It’s an interesting dialect that has its own set of rules and words, but most importantly it lets them be understood by other races. Since no one else knows how to speak their native language aside from fellow citizens like themselves (and even then not always) they teach Common so everyone can communicate more easily!
Here is what people that play role playing games say that they sound like:
“Well, I’m pretty sure that dwarves speak with a British accent.”
“We’re all familiar with the nasal, little voice that Gnomes always seem to have. I mean come on now; you can’t forget Jan Jansen or Grobnar from NWN2 for their unique bazooka crossbows!”
“All of my Gnomes speak in thick Swiss accents.”
“Gnomes tend to talk playfully and free-willed, like a fairy.
“Hiya! That Hummingbirdy sure can fly speedy quick!”
Only, since gnomes actually have some cares in life, they tend to talk like a mix between fairies and humans.
“Hi! How’s it going! That Hummingbird over there sure can fly faster than a twisted fizzle don’tcha think?”
As far as voice tone? Definitely a high pitched child-like voice.”
As you can see, there are many theories on what gnomes sound like but hopefully this article will give you more insight when playing as a gnome in role playing games such as D&D and WoW. Ultimately, you can add your own creativity into your gnome character and some up with something unique.
