But he\u2019s all Wight now.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"where-did-gnomes-originate\">Where did Gnomes Originate?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The garden gnome, as we know it, originated in Germany<\/strong>. Gnomes are thought to have first be seen in the United Kingdom after&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Charles_Isham\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sir Charles Isham<\/a>&nbsp;had been on a trip to Germany and brought 21&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Terracotta\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">terra-cotta figures<\/a>&nbsp;back. These figures were known as Gartenzwerg in Germany which is translated as&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.letitbegnome.com\/\">garden dwarves<\/a>. They represent a small race of humanoid males who live underground and have been around for centuries in ancient&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Roman_mythology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Roman mythology<\/a>&nbsp;as well as European tradition thereafter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"what-is-the-meaning-of-the-gnomes\">What is the Meaning of the Gnomes?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Garden gnomes have been a part of our society for centuries.
