European mystics for centuries have believed that gnomes are the most important element of the spirit world, quietly living beneath Earth in forested areas. And by all accounts they’ve shown no aggression toward human beings during our long history together; we humans had better appreciate them while we can!

As with people, gnomes have a wide range of personalities and emotions which can lead to some of them considered good and others offensive. However, in general, they are considered to be good (as well lucky!) creatures and which humans should be happy to have around them. This is why so may people keep them in their homes and gardens.

Are Gnomes Considered Evil?

The good side of gnomes is what most people know them for (we have an article dedicated to their entire history here) and they will do things such as tend to the gardens of humans to ensure that the grass, plants and everything else there is taken care of even to the point of protecting things such as minerals and gold. They are social creatures and the good side of them means that they care for the other gnomes in their community by helping them when they are sick, finding food via activities such as fishing and going out to get wood for their fires to keep each other warm.

In general though, throughout the years in mythology gnomes have been considered to be quite neutral. Their have often appeared in the background of stories with not too much said about them and in modern stories, such as the Harry Potter books and movies, they have been considered to be something of a pest but nothing too extreme.

What does a Gnome Represent?

Though the exact definition of this elusive creature has changed over time, it is said that gnomes are spirits who live in nature and interact with people on either helpful or mischievous terms. In Scandinavia though these Nisse (Norwegian for “ Gnome”) manifest at Christmas time to protect their land from evil forces like elves during Christmas time celebrations–a reminder not only they but also all humans need protection against harm’s way since there really isn’t any one else out here looking after us!

Are Gnomes Hostile?

Gnomes have the role of protecting a home and garden so will only be hostile to those that pose a threat to these.

Do Gnomes Bring Bad Luck?

Gnomes bring good luck. If you have one around your yard or home then count yourself lucky because these little guys will help keep all sorts of things colorful by keeping harmful plants away from them so they can flourish without competition.
