There are many differing opinions on how tall a gnome actually is so I looked into this so that I could answer the question once and for all.
A gnome is between 3 and 4 foot / 1 and 1.2 metres in height.
How Tall is a Garden Gnome?
These can vary in size as obviously creators of these will make them to offer their customers different options as people will want different types however the most common height for a garden gnome is 9 inches.
This means that they are suitable to place anywhere in your garden as they are subtle and won’t dominate the area in which you place them. They will compliment other garden ornaments that you may have. It is possible to also get larger garden gnome items and these are generally around 15 inches tall with others being the same size as their real-life counterparts at between 3 and 4 foot tall.
How About Large Ones?
The most common height for a large garden gnome is 15 inches however you can get real height ones which will be between 3 and 4 foot.
Orcs
The height of an orc is thought to be around between 6 and 7 feet. They are scary, intimidating creatures and their height is a big part of this.
Elves
These are thought to be around the 6 foot mark. This benefits them in their daily lives as it helps them to see far distances.
Do all Gnomes Have Beards?
Many of them do but not all. Female gnomes, for example, do not have beards.
Do Gnomes and Fairies get Along?
They are thought to live in harmony which is good news considering that they often cross paths in a person’s garden or nearby areas. Fairies are air creatures with gnomes being based on the ground and neither of them are aggressive in their nature which makes them both easy to get along with.
